Wolfsburg, Germany -  A multi-year cooperation agreement was signed today between Lang Lang and Volkswagen. The world renowned pianist will represent the Group as a cultural ambassador. As part of the partnership, Lang Lang will arrive at his concerts all over the world in vehicles from Volkswagen.

“Lang Lang is a unique musician and a role model for young people everywhere in the world. With his work he builds bridges between countries and cultures. We are therefore delighted to be working closely with Lang Lang over the coming years,” declared Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Executive Chairman of Volkswagen AG.

With his high artistic standards and his commitment in particular on behalf of the young generation, Lang Lang is the ideal partner for the Volkswagen Group.
Since 2008, the Chinese-born pianist has been promoting musical education for young artists through his Lang Lang Foundation.

In China, Volkswagen Group’s largest market, Lang Lang has also opened two art centres in order to give children access to music and to comprehensively promote and support young talent.

In addition to numerous international honours, since July the musician is the holder of the German Federal Cross of Merit. It was awarded to him for his outstanding services in support of German musical culture. As one of the best pianists of our time, Lang Lang is active in Germany and many other countries, not only giving concerts but also running special courses for pupils and students with a special interest in music.

The cooperation with Lang Lang forms an integral part of Volkswagen’s commitment to culture, within the scope of which the Group supports leading artistic and cultural establishments and looks for an intensive and constructive dialog between the worlds of art and industry. Amongst others, the Group’s partners include the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and MoMA PS1 in New York and the dOCUMENTA.
